PSL CHAMPIONS AIM FOR THREE POINTS AGAINST AMAZULU2009-10 PSL champions SuperSport United have won their third successive title last Wednesday at Super Stadium in Atteridgeville, Tshwane. Although United lost 2-1 to BIDVest Wits University in that match, it didn’t affect their position on the table. They remained on top with 57 points.
On Saturday Matsatsantsa will play their last league clash against AmaZulu at the Durban’s Moses Mabhida Stadium.
Kick off is scheduled for 15:30.
United went through vigorous sessions this week after their Champions League second leg match against Mbabane Swallows last weekend at home.
“We have had a good, hard training session this week because I felt we needed to do some hard work, since we haven’t been able to do a lot of training over the past couple of weeks, with all the games we played,” said the SuperSport mentor Gavin Hunt.
A victory against AmaZulu will see United completing the league matches on 60 points which is coach Hunt’s set target.
Although Matsatsantsa trained without some of their key players (goalkeeper Emillle Baron, defender Bongani Khumalo and winger Daine Klate) this week, Hunt confirmed that his charges are available for selection in their Saturday match.
“All the national team players will be available for the weekend’s game, but not available for the cup competitions and Champions League,” emphasized Hunt.
The two sides met twice this season with AmaZulu beating United on penalties in the MTN8 quarterfinal in Durban and the latter settled the score in the league’s first round 4-2 victory at home respectively. Bafana Bafana winger Klate won man of the match award after registering a brace.
Good news for United is the return of hard-working midfielder Letladi Madubanya after missing two games due to suspension.
“Madubanya had 90 minutes against Mbabane Swallows in the Champions League last Saturday and is ready to play on the weekend. We are obviously pleased to have him back,” concluded Hunt.
Meanwhile Matsatsantsa defender Morgan Gould will be out of action for a while due to an injured ankle. The team leaves for Durban on Friday afternoon.
